CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team kicked off its 2019-20 indoor season on Saturday, placing first out of five teams at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University.
The Cardinals scored 196 points, while second-place St. Lawrence racked up 141. The remainder of the team standings included the Ottawa Lions (third, 99), the University of Ottawa (fourth, 60) and Carleton University (fifth, 4).
Event winners included the sprint medley relay team of freshmen
Deanna Zoch (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia) and
Mikaylin Williams (Palenville, N.Y./Saugerties), graduate student
Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) and sophomore
Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) that clocked a 4:45.47; Villemaire in the 500-meter dash (1:21.62), the 4x200-meter relay of Zoch, sophomore
Lindsey Gilmore (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy), Williams and sophomore
Ava Cristiano (Loudonville, N.Y./Emma Willard School) that clocked a 1:54.69; junior
Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) in the long jump (4.98 meters – 16' 4"); sophomore
Amanda Crafts (Morrisonville, N.Y./Frontier) in the high jump (1.48 meters – 4' 10.25"); senior
Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) in the weight throw (14.60 meters – 47' 10.75") and freshman
Jillian Magoon (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown) in the triple jump (9.35 meters – 30' 8").
In addition, Villemaire set a meet record in the 500-meter dash, with her 1:21.62 eclipsing the former standard of 1:23.10 established by Plattsburgh State's
Marissa Jones last year.
