2019-20 Roster
2019-20 Schedule

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team will look to maintain its spot among the top teams in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) when it opens up its 2019-20 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University.

Led by 10th-year head coach Nick Jones, the Cardinals have finished third at the SUNYAC Championships each of the past two seasons, and Plattsburgh State returns several key members of those teams this season.

Sprints:

Senior Elisabeth Plympton (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) leads the sprint group, as she won the SUNYAC title in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at last year's conference meet. Plympton qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash in 2017-18 and earned All-America honors in the 60-meter dash at that meet. Look for Plympton, the school record holder in the 60-meter dash and the 4x200-meter relay, to be a significant point scorer for the Cardinals at the conference meet this season and challenge for a spot at the national championships.

Junior Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) and senior Taylor Canet (Peru, N.Y./Peru) each contributed to the Cardinals' fourth-place 4x400-meter relay at last year's SUNYAC Championships. Barber finished among the top eight in both the 400-meter dash (fifth) and the 200-meter dash (eighth) at the conference meet and ran a leg on Plattsburgh State's school-record 4x200-meter relay, while Canet ran a leg on the Cardinals' SUNYAC champion distance medley relay. Count on Barber and Canet to bring solid individual and relay contributions once again this season.

Sophomores Ava Cristiano (Loudonville, N.Y./Emma Willard School) and Isabel Dashnaw (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) also return to the sprint group in 2019-20.

Newcomers include graduate student Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown), who was an All-America women's soccer player at NCAA Division II Assumption College, in addition to sophomore Lindsey Gilmore (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy) and freshmen Daniela Raymond (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville), Mikaylin Williams (Palenville, N.Y./Saugerties) and Deanna Zoch (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia).

Middle Distance:

Sophomore Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) will lend her middle-distance talents to the Cardinals once again this year. McDonough had a strong debut season for Plattsburgh State, contributing a leg to its conference champion distance medley relay.

Freshman Madison Myer (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) also will compete in middle-distance events.

Distance:

Plattsburgh State's distance crew in 2019-20 is led by senior Mikayla Barrett (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont), junior Jazz Roberts (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) and sophomore Rebecca Block (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North). Barrett placed 15th in the 3,000-meter run at last year's conference meet, Roberts starred for the Cardinals during the cross country season and Block finished 16th in the 5,000-meter run at last year's SUNYAC Championships.

Junior Mikayla Anderson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) and sophomore Kristen Thomas (Islip, N.Y./Islip) add depth to the distance group.

Hurdles:

Barber, Canet and Dashnaw will all compete for the Cardinals in the 60-meter hurdles this season. Barber qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 400-meter hurdles last year, while Canet and Dashnaw also have the sprinting ability to experience success in the event.

Jumps:

Sophomore Kristen Boerke (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) headlines a youthful, but talented, jumps group. Boerke placed fourth in the high jump at the SUNYAC Championships last year and expects to be a factor in the event once again this season.

Other returning jumpers include Barber and sophomore Ann Beauchamp (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam). Newcomers to the event group this year include sophomore Amanda Crafts (Morrisonville, N.Y./Frontier) and freshmen Lila King (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown), Courtney Macey (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown), Jillian Magoon (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown) and Raymond.

Throws:

Plattsburgh State boasts a robust number of throwers, which is led by senior Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh). Coon, the program record holder in both the weight throw and the shot put, won the SUNYAC championship in the shot put last season while placing fourth in the weight throw at the conference meet. Look for Coon to continue her dominance in the throwing events this season.

Senior Hannah Cunningham (Campbell Hall, N.Y./Washingtonville) and sophomore Journey Myricks (Westbay, N.Y./Shaker) also competed for the Cardinals at the SUNYAC meet last season. Cunningham placed ninth in the shot put and 12th in the weight throw, while Myricks finished 15th in the shot put.

Other returning throwers include senior Cas Costa (Rensselaer, N.Y./Rensselaer), junior Desirae Blair (Queens, N.Y./Bayside) and sophomores Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) and Bliss Rhoads (Copake, N.Y./Taconic Hills).

Newcomers include Crafts, sophomore Erin Wilson (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) and freshmen Maddie Hoeth (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac), Izzy Kocienda (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville), Jasmine Piper (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) and Madeline Taylor (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia).

Multis:

Plattsburgh State turns to two capable returners in the pentathlon this year: Boerke and junior Mikayla Rossier (Menands, N.Y./Shaker). Boerke was the runner-up in the pentathlon at the SUNYAC Championships last year, while Rossier finished 13th. Count on those two to rack up key points for the Cardinals this season when they compete in meets that include the pentathlon.
