No. 28 Women’s Track And Field Win Middlebury Winter Classic

MIDDLEBURY, VT. –
The 28th ranked Plattsburgh State women's track and field team won the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday and had five individual wins and one meet record.

Junior Elisabeth Plympton (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) won the 60-meters with a new meet record of 7.92 seconds that qualifies her for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championship (AARTFC). Plympton also won the 200-meters with an AARTFC time of 26.09 seconds.

Junior Kristina Watrobski (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) finished first the mile with a SUNYAC qualifying time of 5:23.90.

Sophomore Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac Central) won the 400-meters with a SUNYAC qualifying time of 1:01.07.

Junior Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) placed first in weight throw with a SUNYAC qualifying mark of 46' 9.00". Coon finished second in shot put with a SUNYAC qualifying mark of 36' 11".

Other top three finishers include; freshman Rebecca Block (Lake Grove, N.Y. / Sachem North) was second in the mile with a SUNYAC qualifying time of 5:42.90, freshman Victoria Whimple (Castleton, N.Y. / Maple Hill) was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.10 seconds and was also second in triple jump with an AARTFC mark of 36' 7.5".

Freshman Aislyn McDonough (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Northeastern Clinton) finished third in the 800-meters with a time of 2:36.11 while freshman Kristen Boerke (Washingtonville, N.Y. / Washingtonville) placed third in 60-meter hurdles with a SUNYAC qualifying time of 10.24 seconds.

The women's 4x400 team of sophomore Faith Haley (Cadyville, N.Y. / Saranac High School), McDonough, junior Mikayla Barrett (Rotterdam, N.Y. / Schalmont) and freshman Ava Cristiano (Loudonville, N.Y. / Emma Willard School) finished third with a time of 4:54.53.

Other SUNYAC qualifiers for track include; Whimple in the 400-meters (1:05.22), Barber in the 60-meters (8.37) and freshman Allison Seidman (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) in the 400-meters (1:05.05).

Other SUNYAC qualifiers for field include; Boerke in high jump (4' 8.75"), Barber in triple jump (33' 5.25") freshman Journey Myricks (Cohoes, N.Y. / Shaker) in shot put (34' 7.0") and weight throw (35' 10.75"), junior Hannah Cunningham (Campbell Hall, N.Y. / Washingtonville) in shot put (34' 1.5") and weight throw (39' 3.0")  and sophomore Katie Gibson (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) in shot put (33' 1.25") and weight throw (38' 5.5").

The Cardinals are back in action Saturday, Jan. 19, for the Saints Indoor Invitational hosted by Saint Lawrence.
