The Cardinals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Michelle Iannone but a six-run second inning by the Red Dragons broke the game open. Back-to-back singles by Cortland’s Erin Wolstenholme and Courtney Kadish put two runners on before an error by the Plattsburgh shortstop left the bases loaded for Diane Cork. Cork cleared the bases with a grand slam to give the Red Dragons a 4-1 lead. Two batters later, Alicia Hibbard hit a two-run home run to stretch the Cortland lead to 6-1.

After two more Cortland runs in the third, Plattsburgh answered with two of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Brianna Clarke made it an 8-2 game with an RBI single through the left side. During the next at-bat, Clarke broke for second and arrived at the bag at the same time as the throw. The ball hit Clarke’s leg and trickled into shallow left field, allowing Brittany Marshall to score from third for Plattsburgh’s second run of the inning.

Cortland added another run in the fourth and two more in the sixth on a two-run home run by Hibbard.

Cork finished with five RBIs while Hibbard contributed four RBIs and two home runs for Cortland.
