PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Another day, another win, was the motto for the Plattsburgh State women's tennis team on Sunday (September 2) as the Cardinals put their prowess on display at home for the first time in 2012, walking away with a 9-0 triumph over Castleton State.
In the second match in as many days, the Cardinals showed no signs of fatigue upon taking to the Memorial Hall Courts. In doubles action, Jessica Paquette and Samantha Engebrecht staked the home team to a 1-0 lead after an 8-0 victory over Olga McIntyre and Felicia West.
Rachel Hadnett and Caitlin Belladone found themselves embroiled in the most contested doubles flight of the afternoon before emerging victorious via an 8-4 tally over Chelsea Crehan and Meghan Susslin. Making sure the Spartans would take no more games in doubles action, Samantha Fasciano and Stephanie Omlin bested Lauren Fedorka and Sara Novenstern 8-0 to put the Cardinals up 3-0.
Plattsburgh State continued its dominance in the singles flights, allowing Castleton State to pick up just nine total sets throughout the six one-on-one matches. Absent from doubles action, Jackie Bogdan took to the court at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 against Fedorka. Emily Carlin also made her sole appearance of the afternoon in her No. 5 confrontation against Susslin, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the Spartan.
After a four-day hiatus, the Cardinals dive into SUNYAC action on Friday (September 7) as they embark on an excursion to to Oneonta State. The Cardinals and Red Dragons will begin battling at 3:30 p.m.
