PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Two members of the Plattsburgh State women's tennis team earned 2025 All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors, as senior
Jacklin Mitchell (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) was named First Team All-SUNYAC, and junior
Ava Carey (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) earned Second Team All-SUNYAC recognition. The duo also garnered Second Team All-SUNYAC honors in doubles play.
In singles action, Mitchell posted a 4-5 overall record at No. 1 singles, including a 2-3 mark in conference play. Carey also went 4-5 in singles competition at the No. 2 position, recording a 2-3 SUNYAC record.
Together, Mitchell and Carey competed at No. 1 doubles, finishing with a 5-3 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference play. Their consistency, leadership, and competitive drive were instrumental to the Cardinals' success this season, setting the tone for the team on the court. This marks the first All-Conference recognition for both Mitchell and Carey in their collegiate careers.
The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team concluded the 2025 season with a 7-6 overall record (2-3 SUNYAC), advancing to the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals for the second straight year before falling to eventual champion New Paltz, which did not drop a single set all season against conference opponents.
