FREDONIA, N.Y. – Ashley Marshall of the Plattsburgh State softball team has been named the final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week for the 2012 season after being tabbed Most Valuable Player of the 2012 SUNYAC Tournament.
Marshall was instrumental in helping the Cardinals win their second SUNYAC Championship in program history and their first since 2006. She recorded 28 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of SUNYAC Tournament play as the Cardinals went 4-1 with Marshall earning three wins and one save. Marshall recorded a 2.11 ERA on the week allowing seven runs on 18 hits with only five walks.
The Cardinals received an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament where they will playing in the Amherst Regional, and will make its first appearance since 2007.
