The first few innings of the game looked like it would be a defensive game, but the Cardinals blew the Blue Knights out of the water in the third inning.

Kayla Rabideau scored when Megan Price continued her hot postseason and doubled to right field. Brittany Marshall then reached first base on a throwing error by the Geneseo catcher, which allowed Price to score herself. Allison Smiddy stepped up to single to right field and then she proceeded to steal second which allowed Marshall to steal home and make it 3-0. Smiddy then made it 4-0 after a throwing error by the first baseman and the Erin Florkiewicz smacked a triple to bring home Brianna Clarke and close out a huge offensive inning for the Cardinals.

After shutting out the Blue Knights again in the fourth inning, the Cardinals stepped back up to the plate to finish the game earlier than expected.

Plattsburgh got things going when Smiddy lined a single with two runners on base and an error by the left fielder allowed both runners to score and stretch the Cardinals lead to 7-0. Smiddy added to the lead when Clarke doubled and then Clarke scored a run of her own off a Florkiewicz single.

Ashley Marshall didn’t allow a hit in the top of the fifth inning to give the Cardinals the victory and keep them perfect in the SUNYAC Playoffs.

Ashley Marshall allowed only three hits in the five innings pitched to pick up the win. Geneseo used three different pitchers to try and solve the Cardinal offense but to no avail. Mary Bostwick took the loss for the Blue Knights after giving up five runs in 2.2 innings.
