Boxscore

Both teams were held scoreless throughout the first three innings, despite the Cardinals leaving a combined seven runners on base during the three innings.

Megan Price got things going for the Cardinals with a one-run homer in the fourth to make it 1-0. With no runs in the fifth inning the Golden Eagles hit back to tie the game in the sixth.

Julie Arnold nailed a home run into left field to put Brockport even with the Cardinals going into the bottom of the sixth. With Kayla Rabideau pinch running after a Samantha Capobianco single, Dana Mandery used a bunt to reach first. Both runners then moved onto the next base after a wild pitch and then Price stepped to the plate to record her second RBI of the game when she drove Rabideau in. The Cardinals extended their lead to 3-1 when Mandery scored after a Golden Eagles error.

Ashley Marshall pitched all seven innings for the Cardinals, giving up two hits and striking out nine batters. Jean Farrell took the loss for the Golden Eagles after giving up seven hits and three earned runs.

The Cardinals will now face Geneseo tomorrow in the double-elimination tournament. Tomorrow’s game will start at 11 a.m. at Cortland’s Dragon Field.
