Game Two Boxscore and Play-by-Play

ONEONTA, N.Y.
– Despite a lop-sided 12-1 win in game one, the Plattsburgh State softball team could not overcome a six-run deficit in game two, falling 7-4 to Oneonta State to split a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader.

In game one, which was called after five innings due to the run rule, the Cardinals scored in every inning but the second.

Megan Price went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the third and a two-single in the fifth.  Brianna Clarke went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.

Ashley Marshall improved to 10-2, allowing one run in five innings.  Marshall helped her own cause, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

The Cardinals (19-3, 5-1 SUNYAC) fell behind early in game two, giving up three runs in the first inning.

Heather Loughran struggled on the mound for Plattsburgh, giving up six runs on seven hits in 2 2-3 innings.  Marshall came on in relief to throw 3 1-3 innings and hold Oneonta to one run.

The Red Dragons (11-8, 5-3 SUNYAC) received a solid pitching performance from junior Jessica Bartalsky.  Bartalsky went 6 1-3 innings allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out seven.

Erin Florkiewicz homered in each end of the doubleheader and went 3-for-5 with four RBIs on the afternoon.

The Cardinals will host their home opener on Wednesday, April 13 against Saint Lawrence University.  The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
