BROCKPORT, N.Y.
– The Plattsburgh State softball team stretch its unbeaten streak to six games, taking both ends of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader at Brockport.  The Cardinals took game one, 1-0, and followed with a 7-3 victory in game two.

The two teams were locked in a pitcher’s duel in game one.  Stephanie Geer took the mound for Brockport and suffered the tough loss, allowing one run on six hits while striking out seven.  Ashley Marshall improved to 14-2 with a complete game one-hitter.  Marshall issued one walk and fanned 11 Golden Eagles.

The Cardinal offense had better luck in game two.  Katie McNally blasted a two-run home run in the first inning.  Nicole Diemer, who drove in Plattsburgh’s only run in the game one, also added two RBIs.

Dana Mandery, Erin Jamieson and Brianna Clarke each drove home a run apiece.

The Golden Eagles (17-9, 3-5 SUNYAC) scored one run in the first and two in the fourth, but that was all they would get off of Plattsburgh starter Heather Loughran.  Loughran threw a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits, issuing two walks and striking out seven.

Brockport sent three pitchers to the mound in the second game.  Jean Farrell allowed four runs in the first four innings, suffering the loss.  Geer allowed three runs in two innings of relief before Erin Fleming tossed a scoreless seventh.

The Cardinals (25-3, 11-1 SUNYAC) return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader at SUNY Geneseo.  Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
