PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
– The Plattsburgh State softball team took two games from Buffalo State, 8-0 and 8-7, to pick up another doubleheader sweep in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.

The Cardinals improve to 23-3 overall and 9-1 against SUNYAC teams.  The Bengals drop to 6-14 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.

Ashley Marshall was dominant in game one for the Cardinals, allowing two hits over six innings and striking out 14 batters.

Brianna Clarke went 3-for-3 in the first game, including a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the sixth, ending the game due to the run rule.

Nicole Diemer and Megan Price each drove home two runs in game one.

Buffalo State grabbed an early lead in game two with an unearned run in the first.  The Cardinals retaliated in the bottom of the inning as Katie McNally drove an RBI double down the left field line to score Diemer.

The Bengals scored another run off Plattsburgh starter Heather Loughran in the second inning, before Loughran settled in.  Loughran exited after the fifth inning, allowing three hits and two runs – one of which was earned.

Price drove home the tying run in the bottom of the fourth on a double to center field.  The Cardinals plated five more runs in the fifth, including a two-run home run by Erin Florkiewicz, to take a 7-2 lead.

Marshall took the mound for Plattsburgh in the sixth, giving up a three-run home run to Bengals’ left fielder Breanna Fenski.  Marshall continued to struggle in the seventh, surrender a game-tying two-run home run to Kyrstin Lekki.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Kayla Rabideau reached on an error and advanced to second on a single by Clarke and scored the game-winning run on an error by the Bengals’ second baseman.

Marshall was credited with the win in game two, improving her record to 13-2.  Sam Tilkens started for the Bengals, going five innings and allowing seven runs – two of which were earned, on six hits.  Aleesha Williams took the loss out of the bullpen for Buffalo State.

The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday, April 20 as they host St. Lawrence for a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
