Cardinals Picked Fourth in SUNYAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

Plattsburgh returns bulk of last year's NCAA team

Coach Karen Waterbury returns for her 21st season on the Cardinals bench
FREDONIA, N.Y.--The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team earned 64 points and is predicted to finish fourth in the 2010 State University of New York Athletic Conference preseason poll, according to balloting by the league's 10 head coaches.

The Cardinals return 16 players, including eight starters, off last year's 10-6-3 squad that gained an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship largely to a stellar won-lost record against Top 25 opponents. Plattsburgh itself enjoyed life in the national rankings--at No. 11 by D3soccer.com--at one point during the 2009 campaign.

Plattsburgh has its season opener later tonight at Skidmore. The team has its first home game on Sep. 18 against Castleton State.
