PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Plattsburgh State junior captain
Sydney Myers (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Saranac) has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Third Team, as announced by the organization. The honor recognizes Myers' outstanding excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-America is one of the most prestigious honors in collegiate athletics, reserved for student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their sport while excelling academically. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, the program is the longest-running and premier award recognizing athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions. The all-time list of more than 44,000 Academic All-Americans includes some of the world's most accomplished individuals in sports, medicine, business, science, and the arts.
Myers' Academic All-America selection caps a remarkable 2025 season in which she established herself as one of the top midfielders in NCAA Division III. Myers started 18 matches for the Cardinals, leading the team in minutes played while producing 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. She directly contributed to more than half of Plattsburgh State's 30 goals on the season, while delivering five game-winning goals. Her standout campaign earned her SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year, SUNYAC First Team All-Conference, and United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-East Region III Second Team honors.
Myers' impact extended beyond the stat sheet, as her leadership and attacking presence were instrumental in guiding Plattsburgh State from a seventh-place finish the previous season to a SUNYAC Championship appearance in 2025, marking one of the most dramatic turnarounds in program history. With her Academic All-America selection, Myers becomes just the second women's soccer student-athlete in Plattsburgh State history to earn the distinction, joining Jessica Allen (1999).
