Recognize Harte on Senior Day

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - For Plattsburgh State women's basketball senior Molly Harte, today's game against Brockport was the culmination of four years of giving it everything she had on the hardwood. Harte led by example during her tenure, as well as during her last 40 minutes as a Cardinal cager, posting her first double-double of the season (10 points, 14 rebounds) to lead her team past the Golden Eagles, 71-66.

The win brings Plattsburgh's record to 4-20 for the season, 2-16 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Brockport drops to 5-20 overall, 3-15 in conference play.

For the first time since they played the Albany College of Pharmacy on November 20, the Cardinals entered halftime with a double-digit lead over their opponent, 35-25. Plattsburgh would increase that lead to 19 with fewer than 14 minutes to play when Stephanie McCoy sank the second of two free-throws. She had missed the first.

Brockport battled back and pulled within three of the Cardinals with a little over a minute left, but two more made free-throws by McCoy would give Plattsburgh another comfortable lead, 65-60. Plattsburgh continued to shoot and the Golden Eagles did their best to answer, but the contest ended in the Cardinals favor.

Along with Harte, Casey Clark also recorded a double-double for Plattsburgh. Clark, a senior academically yet still with a year of eligibility remaining, sank a team-high 15 points and matched Harte with 14 boards. Clark also reached up for an impressive five blocks. Kerri Salisbury dished out a game-high five assists.

Brockport senior Whitney Smith topped the Golden Eagles with 18 points, followed by senior Jenna Smith with 13. Brockport's other remaining senior, Lacey Grove, racked up a team-high three assists during the contest. Ellen Story pulled down eight boards.
