2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Sophomores
Meredith Bush (Gouverneur, N.Y. / Gouverneur),
Desiree DuBois (Champlain, N.Y. / Northeastern Clinton Central), and
Kayla Johannesen (Hyde Park, N.Y. / Our Lady of Lourdes), along with junior
Rosie Sculco (Amsterdam, N.Y. / Amsterdam), were each named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Basketball team, as announced on Tuesday. The four student-athletes represent the most selections to the Women's Basketball Academic All-District team in a single season in Cardinals history.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
To be eligible for this ballot, student-athletes must excel on the field and in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and must be at least sophomores academically and athletically.
Bush, a Communication Sciences and Disorders major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, appeared in all 27 games for Plattsburgh, averaging 14.2 minutes per game. The sophomore guard totaled 59 points and 12 assists across the season. Bush's season was highlighted by a seven-point, seven-rebound, two-assist performance against Morrisville on Jan. 16, all season-highs. She also collected 12 steals on the defensive end, including a season-high two steals against Oswego State on Jan. 30.
DuBois, a Biomedical Sciences major with a 3.71 cumulative GPA, appeared in 26 games for Plattsburgh, averaging 19.3 minutes per contest. The sophomore forward averaged 6.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Her best performance came against Potsdam on Jan. 27, when she scored a season-high 23 points. The Champlain native was an all-around threat, grabbing a season-high nine rebounds and recording a season-high two steals against Morrisville on Feb. 7, finishing the season with 11 steals and 13 blocks. DuBois capped her first season off, winning the SUNYAC Elite 20 Award, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, which recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
Johannesen, a Communication Sciences & Disorders major with a 3.78 cumulative GPA, appeared in all 27 games for Plattsburgh, averaging 26.4 minutes per contest. The sophomore guard averaged 5.8 points and a team-third-best 4.6 rebounds per game. Offensively, she recorded a season-high 16 points and six assists against Morrisville on Jan. 16. Her top performance on the boards came against Oswego State on Jan. 30, when she grabbed 10 rebounds. Defensively, Johannesen added 22 steals and eight blocks, highlighted by a season-high two blocks against Keene State on Nov. 21 and a season-high two steals against New Paltz on Feb. 27.
Sculco, a Broadcast Journalism/Communication Studies major with a 3.94 cumulative GPA, appeared in 26 games for Plattsburgh, averaging 15.5 minutes per contest. The junior guard averaged 6.0 points per game, highlighted by a season-high 17 points against Canton on Jan. 9. She also contributed 2.7 rebounds per game, along with 20 steals and 18 assists, showcasing her all-around impact. On the boards, Sculco grabbed a season-high seven rebounds against Utica on Nov. 15, and defensively, she recorded a season-high six steals against Potsdam on Jan. 27.
Plattsburgh State finished the season with a 16-11 overall record and a 10-8 mark in conference play, earning its second consecutive trip to the SUNYAC Tournament. The fourth-seeded Cardinals defeated fifth-seeded Oswego State 48-38 in the first round before falling to top-seeded New Paltz in the semifinals.
