PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team (2-10 overall, 0-6 SUNYAC) stepped up its defense from the day before, nabbing four steals, forcing 19 turnovers and making 27 defensive rebounds (42 overall) during the Cardinals' State University of New York Athletic Conference game against Oswego (6-7, 3-3 SUNYAC). The Lakers held a strong lead the entire contest and walked off with the victory, 61-47.
Once again, Taylor Amarando was Plattsburgh's standout player, sinking 13 points and pulling down eight boards. Amarando also grabbed all four steals for the Cardinals. Kerri Salisbury contributed nine points, including five-straight from the charity stripe in the first half after a personal foul was awarded to Oswego's Rachel Kohrs and a technical foul was handed down to the Lakers' bench.
For Oswego, Kristen Diglio and Meagan Stover each recorded 13 points. Colleen McCready sank nine points and posted a game-high 13 rebounds and five blocks (four in the second half alone).
Plattsburgh hits the road next weekend to take on SUNYAC foes Brockport on Friday at 6 p.m. and Geneseo on Saturday at 2 p.m.
