Plattsburgh Women Fall in SUNYAC Opener

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Despite taking an early 11-9 advantage during the first six minutes of the game, the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team fell to host New Paltz, 87-48, in the team's first State University of New York Athletic Conference game of the season. The loss brings the Cardinals' record to 2-4 for the year, 0-1 in the SUNYAC. New Palts holds a 4-1 record and is 1-0 in conference play.

Taylor Amarando led the charge for the Cardinals, posting 11 points and six rebounds. Caitlin O'Keefe came off the bench to sink 10 points and grab seven boards. Molly Harte pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and tied teammate Stephanie McCoy with two steals. Catherine Cassidy dished out four assists.

For the Hawks, Maggie Farrell recorded 15 points, followed by Maliqua Fisher with 13 and Alexandra McCullough with 12. Sam DelGaudio topped the team with eight boards, while Caitlin Irwin nabbed six steals. Nicole Sarcone made four assists during the game.

Plattsburgh concludes its weekend roadtrip tomorrow, December 5, at Oneonta. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
