PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Division III Week continues today, Wednesday, April 8, as NCAA Division III institutions across the country celebrate the unique student‑athlete experience. Throughout the week, we are spotlighting student-athletes on social media, providing them with a platform to share what it means to compete at the Division III level by answering a series of questions.
Today, we will hear from
Morgan Ormerod, a senior pitcher on the softball team, as she shares her answers to the questions below.
What's your favorite part about being a Division III student-athlete?
"My favorite part about being a Division III athlete is having the balance between sports and academics. I can play the sport I love while also getting a good education."
What's the toughest part about balancing your sport, academics, and social life, and how do you handle it?
"The toughest part about balancing sports, academics, and social life is the long days of practice or games and class. I handle this by being grateful for getting to play the sport I love in college and knowing that in a few years I will look back and wish I had these long days again and got to play this sport again."
What values has Division III built into you?
"Time management, discipline, selflessness, loyalty, and teamwork."
What made you choose the Division III path over other options?
"I chose the Division III path over others because I wanted to be able to play the sport I loved while also getting a good education."
How do you take pride in representing SUNY Plattsburgh?
"I take pride in knowing I'm supporting a program bigger than myself."
What is one moment as a student-athlete at Plattsburgh State that you'll never forget?
"One moment I'll never forget as a student-athlete is sweeping Cortland my freshman year."
In three words, how would you describe your student-athlete experience?
"Rewarding, Family, Fulfilling"
