4/23/2026 9:10:00 PM

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State Cardinals saw their four-game win streak come to an end on Thursday afternoon, falling 7-0 to SUNY New Paltz in conference action.

New Paltz struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Fabian Apicella delivered an RBI single to bring home Wallace Kirkpatrick. The Hawks added to their lead in the fourth inning, beginning with an RBI double from Joe Richetti that made it 2-0.

The fourth inning proved to be the difference in the contest, as New Paltz broke the game open with four runs. Christian Apicella followed with an RBI single, and later in the frame, Louis Kaleb launched a three-run home run to extend the advantage to 6-0.

New Paltz added an insurance run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Joe Scarabino, pushing the lead to 7-0.

The Cardinals were unable to generate offensive momentum throughout the game, as New Paltz's pitching staff held Plattsburgh scoreless.

With the loss, the Cardinals move to 14-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play. Plattsburgh will return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader against New Paltz.
