PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Plattsburgh State women's basketball team is set to host fifth-seeded Oswego State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament First Round matchup at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Memorial Hall. The Cardinals are set to begin their pursuit of a second SUNYAC title in program history and their first postseason victory since 2014.

ABOUT THE SERIES: These two programs have met 64 times since their first matchup on Jan. 14, 1984. The series has been tightly contested, with Oswego State holding a narrow 33-31 overall edge, including a 30-28 mark in conference play. The teams have been evenly matched by venue, as Plattsburgh owns a 15-16 record at home and a 16-17 mark on the road in the series. The Cardinals' longest win streak spans eight games from Feb. 16, 2013, to Jan. 13, 2017. The most recent meeting came on Jan. 30, 2026, with the Cardinals earning a 76-64 victory at home. However, over the last 10 meetings from Jan. 14, 2022, to Jan. 30, 2026, Oswego State holds a 7-3 edge.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS: Plattsburgh State finished the 2025-26 regular season 15-10 (10-8 SUNYAC), including a strong 11-2 record at home. The Cardinals clinched a playoff berth with a 53-48 victory over Oneonta on Saturday, Feb. 21. This marks their second consecutive SUNYAC Tournament appearance. Last season, they fell to Canton in the first round in a 61-58 contest.
As a team, the Cardinals average 60.8 points per game (PPG) while shooting 35.7% from the field (fifth in the conference) and 29.0% from three-point range (third in the conference). Plattsburgh ranks third in the league in rebounds per game (43.2) and averages 12.6 assists per game (APG).
Senior forward
Imani Walcott (Albany, N.Y. / Albany) is the only Cardinal averaging double figures, leading the team with 11.2 PPG. She also averages a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the conference, and 3.6 offensive rebounds per game, second in the league. Walcott shoots 47.9% from the floor, which ranks third in the conference.
Junior guard
Julia Greek (Long Island, N.Y. / Ward Melville) contributes 8.8 PPG, while senior guard
Jaden Wilson (Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown) adds 8.4 PPG. Greek serves as the primary ballhandler and averages a team-high and conference-leading 4.8 APG. The Cardinals rank third in the conference from beyond the arc, led by Wilson, who is shooting 33.7% from three-point range, second in the league. Sophomore forward
Desiree DuBois (Champlain, N.Y. / Northeastern Clinton Central) has added 7.1 PPG in her first season with the program.
Defensively, Plattsburgh limits opponents to 32.6% shooting, which ranks second in the conference, and collects 30.9 defensive rebounds per game, also second in the league. The Cardinals average 3.6 blocks per game (BPG), tied for fourth in the conference.
Walcott anchors the defense, leading the team in blocks per game (1.6, fourth in the conference) and steals per game (1.3). DuBois ranks second on the team in total blocks with 13. Greek adds 1.0 steals per game. On the boards, Walcott averages 4.8 defensive rebounds per game, while senior forward
Kathy Peterson-Ross (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) follows with 4.3 defensive rebounds per contest and 5.0 total rebounds per game. Peterson-Ross has also recorded 20 steals this season.
Fifth-year head coach
Ben Sarraf will make his second consecutive appearance in the SUNYAC Tournament after previously serving as an assistant during Plattsburgh State's last postseason appearance in 2014-15. He is seeking his first postseason victory following a narrow first-round loss to Canton last year.
ABOUT THE LAKERS: Oswego State finished the 2025-26 regular season 11-14 (9-9 SUNYAC), closing with back-to-back wins over Fredonia and Buffalo State. The Lakers went 5-6 at home and 6-8 on the road.
As a team, Oswego averages 62.0 PPG (fifth in the conference) while shooting 35.7% from the field. The Lakers rank third in the conference in assists per game (13.8 APG). They lead the conference in offensive rebounds per game (15.8) and rank second overall in total rebounds per game (46.6).
Giavanna White-Principio leads the Lakers in scoring at 14.8 PPG, which ranks fourth in the conference, and in rebounding at 13.9 RPG, which leads the league. She shoots 49.7% from the field, the second-best mark in the conference. Semaiah Williams averages 5.6 PPG and 5.6 RPG, while guard Sydney Hoefs contributes 5.0 PPG and a team-high 3.7 APG.
Defensively, Oswego ranks fourth in the conference in opponent field goal percentage (34.3%) and second in blocks per game (4.3). White-Principio leads the conference with 9.0 defensive rebounds per game and averages 1.8 BPG. Zhane Holmes paces the perimeter defense with 2.1 steals per game, fifth in the league.
Oswego State is led by eighth-year head coach Sean Pinkerton, who holds a 2-2 record in postseason play. Pinkerton is making his second SUNYAC Tournament appearance after earning a 59-54 first-round victory over Oneonta last year before falling to New Paltz in the semifinals.
WHAT'S NEXT: The winner of the Plattsburgh State-Oswego State matchup will advance to face top-seeded New Paltz in the semifinals, regardless of the outcome of the Canton-Oneonta game. New Paltz finished 17-1 in conference play, with its only loss coming against Cortland, but secured the tiebreaker to earn the No. 1 seed.
The winner of Canton-Oneonta will face second-seeded Cortland. New Paltz will host both the semifinals and the championship games as the top seed.
