Men's Ice Hockey to Continue Stress Ball Night Tradition on Saturday, Jan. 24, Against Oswego Courtesy of Casella; Proceeds Benefit Cardinal Cupboard

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Courtesy of Casella Waste Systems, the Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey program is continuing a longtime tradition when the Cardinals host Oswego State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
 
A total of 2,000 red stress balls, which will be provided by Casella, will be sold for $1 each, with all proceeds benefiting the Cardinal Cupboard, the resource on campus for SUNY Plattsburgh students dedicated to combating food and housing insecurity. After the first Plattsburgh State goal, fans are encouraged to throw all of the red stress balls they purchased onto the ice. Only the specially purchased red stress balls are allowed to be thrown onto the ice. No objects, including the red stress balls, should be thrown on the ice at any other time during the game.

In addition, food shelf and personal care items will be collected on site in the Field House lobby on Saturday to benefit the Cardinal Cupboard.

Suggested food shelf items include: soup; tofu; vegetable oil; olive oil; rice (all varieties); pasta (all varieties); convenient/to-go meals and snacks; canned tuna; canned chicken; instant rice; instant macaroni and cheese; fruit cups; applesauce; nuts; shelf stable milk; breakfast bars (all varieties); oatmeal (all varieties); cereal (all varieties); protein bars (all varieties); paper towels; utensils; seasonings/spice (adobo, salt and pepper); international convenient/to-go meals; and commonly used condiments (jelly, peanut butter, ketchup, fluffernutter, mayonnaise and hot sauce).
 
Suggested personal care items include: toothbrush/toothpaste; deodorant; shampoo & conditioner; menstrual products; toilet paper; dental floss; and basic cleaning supplies in addition to sanitizing wipes and dish soap.
 
These items, as well as cash donations, will be collected in the Field House lobby throughout the entirety of Saturday's game.
