MEET RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The 4x400-meter relay team of junior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) and first-years
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport),
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane), and
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) won the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship to lead the Plattsburgh state women's track and field team to a fifth place finish on Saturday. Yarkosky also won gold in the 400-meter dash, and Scott won the 400-meter hurdles as the Cardinals dominated the 400-meter events at the outdoor championships.
The Cards totaled 59 points over the two-day championship event to place fifth. Cortland won the team championship, with Oneonta placing second, SUNY Delhi third, and Penn State Behrend fourth. PSU-Behrend finished just one point ahead of the Cards, with 60, to place fourth.
The 4x400-meter relay team followed up their SUNYAC Indoor Championship with an equally impressive outing in the outdoor sphere. The Cards posted an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship qualifying mark with a time of 4:03.45, beating their seed time by nearly a full five seconds.
Yarkosky, who won the 800-meter run at the 2024 SUNYAC Outdoor Championships, adds to her impressive resume with her second individual gold of her career. She won the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.98 seconds, nearly matching the new personal best she set yesterday at 57.74.
Scott was a fantastic piece of the Plattsburgh machine over the weekend, helping the team by contributing 14 individual points along with the 10 that she earned with the 4x400 unit. Scott dominated the 4x400-meter hurdle event, winning by over three seconds, as she set a new personal best mark and met the AARTFC qualifying standard at 1:06.00. She also placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.75 seconds. Junior
Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y./Cairo-Durham) placed for the Cardinals in the same event, earning two points for the Cards with her 18.37-second run.
Junior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) earned a silver medal for herself, as she placed second in the 5,000-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying mark of 18:28.84. The mark was a new personal record for the junior, who also placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.18.
Sophomore
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and first-year
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) each posted seventh finishes for the Cardinals, picking up two points in their respective events. Estus was seventh in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:32.36, and LeRoy was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a new career best time of 12:36.91.

Estus was awarded the prestigious SUNYAC Elite 20 award, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championship event in their respective sport. The sophomore carries a 4.0 GPA as an English major.
Oneonta's Jaiden Schrag was the MVP and Rookie of the Meet, contributing 31 total points to her team.
