2025 CSC Academic All-District Softball Teams
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Sophomores
Michelle DeFina (Commack, N.Y./Commack),
Emma Deo (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park), and
Sara Isaacs (Malta, N.Y./Shenendehowa), along with juniors
Morgan Ormerod (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) and
Megan Pillus (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill), were each named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball team that was released Tuesday. The five student-athletes are the most named to the Academic All-District team for the Cardinals in a single season.
To be eligible for this ballot, student-athletes must not only excel on their field of play but also in the classroom, carrying at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA at the time of their nomination, while also being at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
DeFina started all 36 games for the Cardinals, posting a .311 on-base percentage as she was third on the team with 10 walks. She also led the team with four sacrifice bunts, compiling 21 hits over 90 at-bats on the season. She doubled three times and drove in ten runs as well, scoring 11 times. An elementary/special education major, DeFina had a 3.51 GPA at the time of her nomination.
Deo started 27 games for the Cards, appearing in 30 total games as one of the team's catchers. She tallied 18 hits and three doubles, driving in nine runs. She led the team with runners caught stealing, throwing out four would-be base stealers in 2025. A journalism/digital media production major, Deo had a 3.62 GPA at the time of her nomination.
Isaacs was one of the team's best hitters in 2025, posting a .313 batting average and a .755 OPS for the Cardinals. She tied for the team lead with eight extra-base hits, tallying the team's lone home run of the year while also tripling and doubling. The sophomore led the team with 18 RBI and three sacrifice flies, scoring 20 runs and recording 35 hits, numbers that each ranked second on the team. A fitness and wellness major, Isaacs carried a 3.70 GPA at the time of her nomination.
Ormerod had a solid season in the circle for the Cards, working as one of the main starters for Plattsburgh this year. She totaled 70 innings pitched, appearing in 15 games while making 11 starts. Ormerod recorded a 4.70 ERA, compiling a 2-6 record, which included a no-hitter win against SUNY Canton. She finished the year with 41 strikeouts and five complete games. A fitness and wellness leadership major, Ormerod had a 3.50 GPA at the time of her nomination.
Pillus, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Elite 20 Award Winner for softball, enjoyed a breakout season on the field, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA as a childhood education major. She led the team in batting average (.358), OPS (.814), slugging percentage (.431), hits (39), and doubles (8). She also scored 15 runs and drove in 17, leading the Plattsburgh offensive effort throughout the 2025 season. She was also tops on the team with 13 multi-hit games.
The Cardinals wrapped up their season at 10-26, 7-11, finishing their year with a loss in the first round of the conference tournament.
