5/2/2025 9:41:00 PM

CORTLAND, N.Y. – First-year Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles on Friday at Day One of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships, posting personal bests in both events. She will enter Saturday with the top time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.70), which was an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships qualifying time.

Junior Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y./Cairo-Durham), first-year Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) and sophomore Taygin Jump (Coupeville, N.Y./Coupeville) were the only two Cardinals that competed in the finals of their respective events on Friday. Khadijah placed 10th in the javelin with a throw of 21.83 meters, and also qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 100-meter hurdles with a 16.99 mark, a new personal best. Mahoney was tied for fifth place in the pole vault, matching her personal best mark of 2.75 meters, and Jump placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 28.70 meters.

Junior Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) posted a new personal best time in the 400-meter dash, an AARTFC qualifying mark of 57.74 seconds that was the second-best time of the day as she will compete tomorrow in the finals. Mahoney and fellow first-year Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) both competed in the event as well, finishing back-to-back at 9th and 10th, both just missing out on making the finals tomorrow. The pair each set personal bests, with Mahoney recording a time of 1:01.96 and Wise posting a mark of 1:02.21.

Sophomore Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 800-meter run, placing seventh today with a time of 2:26.44, a new PR.

The Cardinals will continue in the SUNYAC Championships tomorrow, May 3, beginning at approximately 9:20 a.m. Several events were postponed on Friday night and will pick up with an earlier start tomorrow morning than originally planned, in an adjusted schedule.
