Meet Results
TROY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team competed at the RPI Friday Night Under the Lights Invitational on Friday, April 12, placing sixth out of 12 teams in attendance. Junior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) won the 400-meter dash and placed fifth in the 200-meter race for an excellent evening at Harkness Field in Troy, New York.
Yarkosky won the 400 with an outdoor career best of 59.17 seconds, just over the 59.00 All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships qualifying mark. She also posted a mark of 26.77 seconds in the 200-meter race, placing fifth amongst some Division I runners.
As a team, the Cardinals placed sixth, posting a total of 46 points. RPI won their home meet with 229 points, beating out NCAA Division I UAlbany, who had 194.
First-year
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.03, just missing out on AARTFC qualification of 1:07.00 in the event. She was also seventh in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 16.69 seconds.
Sophomore
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and junior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) finished back-to-back in the 800-meter run, as Estus posted a mark of 2:26.78 for sixth place and Colvin was seventh with her time of 2:27.92.
First-year
Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y./Northern Adirondack) nearly scored for Plattsburgh in the 100-meter dash, as he posted a time of 13.80 seconds to finish ninth.
In the 1,500-meter run, first-years
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y./Waterville) and
Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) just missed out on scoring, with Stuttard finishing ninth at 5:27.40 and Rostak 10
th at 5:31.04.
Sophomore
Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash./Coupeville) led the competitors in the field events, posting two top-eight finishes. She was fifth in the javelin, throwing 29.20 meters, and also placed eighth in the hammer throw with a throw of 38.85 meters.
Junior
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) placed third in the long jump with a 5.34-meter jump, just .01 of a meter away from AARTFC Championship qualification in the event. First-year
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) also finished third, with her mark of 2.40 meters (7'10.5") in the pole vault.
The Cards are next in action on Friday, April 18, at the Bobbi Palma Spring Classic hosted by the University of Albany.
