STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team competed at the Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday. The team had several personal bests set on a fast track amongst competitors from every division across the NCAA and outside of it.
In the 60-meter dash, junior
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) just missed out on a regional qualifying time as he was 14
th with a season-best time of 7.05 seconds. Williams also set a personal indoor best in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 23.17 seconds. Sophomore
Justin Rushia (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg) was a 60-meter dash participant and posted a personal best mark of 7.29 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) nearly set a new personal record (PR) with his time of 51.93 seconds.
Senior
Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) and sophomore
Matt DeJulio (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) each posted solid marks in the 800-meter run, with Kumrow setting a new PR with a time of 2:00.43 and DeJulio finishing with a time of 2:04.83.
Sophomore
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) set a new career best in the one-mile run, with his time of 4:37.44. Another personal best came from first-year
Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) In the 60-meter hurdles, as he was close to a regional qualifying mark with his new PR of 8.86 seconds.
In the jumps portion of the day, first-year
Jackson Hooper (Elizabethtown, N.Y./Boquet Valley) matched his college best, clearing 1.90 meters for fourth place at the event. Sophomore
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) had a solid outing in the long jump with a 6.47-meter jump, while sophomore
Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) had a new career best with a 6.28-meter jump.
The Cardinals are next in action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15 at Nazareth for the DIII Elite Meet for qualifiers only.
