2/28/2025 8:47:00 PM

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Junior Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) captured the gold in the pentathlon and junior Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) earned a bronze in the 5,000-meter run for the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team at Day One of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships.

After day one, the Cardinals have 21 points, good for third place, thanks in large part to LeDuc and Colvin.

LeDuc earned first place in the pentathlon with a score of 2,967, winning the long jump (5.20 meters) and the 800-meter run (2:42.02), while placing second in the shotput (9.93 meters), third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.61), and fourth in the high jump (1.38 meters). Her score is an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying mark, but the meet will only take the top 12 entries next weekend.

Colvin finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:41.53, an AARTFC qualifying time.

Junior Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) also earned a third-place finish in the first round of the 400-meter dash, posting an AARTFC qualifying time of 59.55 seconds. The time also marked a new career best for the South Lyon native.

The distance medley relay team of Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh), Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy),  and Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) earned fourth place with a time of 13:34.01 to score five points for the Cards.

The Cardinals will continue their competition at the SUNYAC championships tomorrow at the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC) beginning at 10:30 a.m.
