SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior guard Reem Welch (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Thomas Jefferson) of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athlete of the Week for the period ending Dec. 7 as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is Welch's second time winning the weekly honor this season and the team's third overall.

Welch posted a double-double average, guiding Plattsburgh to two conference victories this week. He scored an average of 24.5 points per game on 69.0% shooting while pulling down 11.0 rebounds per game.

His impact extended across the floor, contributing 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game as well. He delivered standout performances in both contests, beginning the weekend with a double-double against Fredonia, where he led all players with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Welch continued his dominant play against Buffalo State, recording another double-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals—all game highs. The senior guard is off to a stellar start, currently leading the conference in points, rebounds, and assists per game.

Plattsburgh State is currently 4-3 (2-0 SUNYAC) and will be back in action in the new year, when the team hosts Clarkson on Friday, Jan. 2, for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
