SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward
Irwayne Connell Jr. (Monroe CC / Saint Thomas Aquinas) of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 30, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. This is Connell Jr.'s first career weekly honor and the team's second this season.
Connell Jr.'s career-high day paced the Cardinals on the offensive and defensive ends in a tough loss to Middlebury. The senior forward netted a career-high and game-high 26 points on 50.0% shooting from the floor and 60.0% from behind the arc. He also added a game-high eight rebounds and led his team in blocks and steals with two each.
Plattsburgh State is back in action on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. when the team hosts Fredonia in its SUNYAC opener.
