KEENE, N.H. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team posted several personal bests at a competitive Keene State Invitational with multiple ranked teams, placing 17th with 537 points.
First across the line for the Cardinals with a new personal best was junior
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham), finishing in 27:29.60 for 110th place. The next runner across the line was senior
Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y. / Thousand Islands), who also recorded a new personal best with a time of 27:50.10 for 124th place.
The scoring group was rounded out by juniors
Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Neck) and
Nate Alexander (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus), and sophomore
Brody Serfass (Endwell, N.Y. / Maine Endwell), who finished in close succession. Lauvau came in at 28:48.30 (171st), Alexander posted a time of 28:54.00 (178th), and Serfass finished at 28:56.80 (181st), with all three beating their previous 8K course times.
Other runners to note include first-years
Jackson Morse (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) and
Bryton Mandigo (Hartford, N.Y. / Hartford), who closed out the Cardinals' top seven. Morse recorded a mark of 29:28.20 (192nd), and Mandigo ran his best time yet in the 8K with a mark of 29:53.10 (206th).
First-year
Michael Ayala (New Paltz, N.Y. / New Paltz) also competed today, coming in at 30:57.80 (236th).
Williams, who is ranked ninth in the national poll, took home first place, scoring 31 points.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks when the team travels to Springfield, Mass., for a final tune-up at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18.
