PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team competed at the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship on Saturday at their home course of Rugar Woods, where junior
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham) paced the Cardinals to an eighth-place finish. The Cardinals finished the race with a score of 212 points.
Brown led the Cardinals with a time of 28:13.1, finishing in 38th. A few runners later, junior
Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Neck) came across the line for Plattsburgh with a new personal best time of 28:26.5 (44th), followed by sophomore
Brody Serfass (Endwell, N.Y. / Maine Endwell), who timed in at 28:26.9 (45th), also a new personal best.
Senior
Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y. / Thousand Islands) and junior
Nate Alexander (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) closed out the scoring group for Plattsburgh with times of 29:08.4 (56th) and 29:20.9 (61st), respectively.
Other Cardinals who also competed were first-years
Michael Ayala (New Paltz, N.Y. / New Paltz),
Bryton Mandigo (Hartford, N.Y. / Hartford Central), and
Jackson Morse (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna). Morse notched a new personal best with a mark of 29:26.6 (63rd), Mandigo came in at 30:06.2 (74th), and Ayala wrapped up the Cardinal finishers with a time of 32:08.4 (91st).
Cortland won the SUNYAC team championship with a score of 60, while Fredonia had the individual champion in Stephen Hallberg, who finished first at 26:06.8.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks when the team travels to St. Lawrence for the NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championship on Saturday, Nov. 15.
