SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team finished in fifth place, scoring 192 points, at the Western New England Invitational.
Junior
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham) was the first Cardinal across the line, timing in at 27:58.50 (40th), followed by senior
Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y. / Thousand Islands) with a mark of 28:07.03 (42nd).
Sophomore
Brody Serfass (Endwell, N.Y. / Maine Endwell) and junior
Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Neck) finished back-to-back, recording times of 28:47.97 (54th) and 28:48.21 (55th), as both notched new personal bests. First-year
Bryton Mandigo (Hartford, N.Y. / Hartford) rounded out the scoring group, coming in at 30:08.76 (87th).
First-years
Michael Ayala (New Paltz, N.Y. / New Paltz) and
Griffin Leary (Pearl River, N.Y. / Clarkstown South) also competed today, closing out the top seven group with marks of 30:36.95 (101st) and 32:52.37 (144th).
RPI took home first place with a score of 21.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks when the team hosts the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rugar Woods.
