Meet Results
CANTON, N.Y. – Junior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) was the winner of the 5,000-meter run at the St. Lawrence Invitational, leading the women's track and field team as they competed in the St. Lawrence Invitational on Saturday.
The Cardinals finished the day in third in the team standings with 98.5 points, behind the top team in Utica, and the host St. Lawrence Saints.
Colvin was the lone individual victor of the day in any event for the Cardinals, as she posted a time of 19:31.94. Her teammate, senior
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) placed second in the same event, with her time of 19:47.37. First-years
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y./Waterville) and
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y.) each scored in the event for the Cards, finishing fourth and fifth.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport),
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane), and
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), as well as junior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) won their event, defeating St. Lawrence with their time of 4:17.77.
Yarkosky also earned a second-place finish in the 800-meter run, just missing out on an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying time at 2:26.97.
Also earning a top-three finish for the Cards was sophomore
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) who was third in the mile run with a time of 5:38.31. Close behind her was first-year
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy), who finished fourth with a time of 5:57.62.
Scott and Wise finished back-to-back in the 400-meter dash, with Scott placing fourth with her mark of 1:04.43 and Wise fifth at 1:05.15.
Junior
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) was busy for the Cardinals, scoring in three separate events, and placing in the top five in each one. She was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 10.29 seconds, and was also fifth in the shot put, with her throw of 9.61 meters. Her highest finish of the day came in the high jump, where she tied for third place, clearing 1.45 meters.
Mahoney also scored for Plattsburgh, as she was sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.78 seconds. First-year
Jillian Head (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) also earned a sixth-place finish in the 3,0000-meter run to score for the Cards.
The throwing events saw sophomore
Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash./Coupeville) earn a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with her toss of 12.52 meters. First-year
Tessy Huntley (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) was eighth in the same event with her best throw of 11.23 meters. First-year
Harmony Sanders (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) placed seventh in the shotput, as she had a throw of 9.52 meters to score for Plattsburgh State.
The Cardinals are next in action on Tuesday, Feb. 4 when they host their own meet in the Plattsburgh State Field House at 5 p.m.
