CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team finished in fifth place with 156 points at the Hoffmann Invitational.
Plattsburgh State finished ahead of Clarkson, Potsdam, and SUNY Canton. Queen's University took home first place scoring 25 points followed by Middlebury (36 points), host St. Lawrence (78 points), and Ottawa University (135 points). The Cardinals will next race at the RPI Harvest Classic on Friday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m.
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y. / Wells) was the Cardinal's top runner for the first time this season, coming in 25
th place with a mark of 25:43.5. The first-year
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) continues her success with another top-three finish for the Cardinals coming in 29
th with a mark of 27:20.0.
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem),
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central), and
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) rounded out the scoring group for the Cardinals placing 31
st (27:31.5), 32
nd (27:44.8), and 39
th (29:56.2) respectively.
Jillian Head (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and
Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y. / Northville) turned in some impressive performances as well. Head recorded her best collegiate mark with a time of 30:36.2 and Ginter was not far behind her with a time of 31:37.8.
