PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country finished in second place at the 42nd-annual Cardinal Classic that was hosted by Plattsburgh State on Saturday, August 31. The team finished with 46 points with three runners in the top 10 spots.

Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) was the first Cardinal across the finish line with a time of 20.08.3 for a fourth-place finish in the first collegiate race of her career followed by Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) who posted a time of 21:03.0 for an eighth-place finish in her first collegiate race as well.

The Cardinals took home a second-place finish behind St. Lawrence, who had four runners finish in the top five. Plattsburgh beat out Clarkson who scored 78 points and found themselves in third in team standings with three teams qualifying for team scores. The Cardinals will next race at the Aldrich Invitational hosted by Middlebury on Sep. 14 at 10 a.m.

Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) and Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) finished 10th and 11th respectively at 21:53.4 and 22:04.7. Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) posted a 22:50.2 mark finishing 13th and was the final scorer for the Cardinals. First-years Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) and Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) rounded out the top seven posting times of 23:38.5 (15th) and 24:36.7 (18th) in their first collegiate races. Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y.) posted a personal record shaving off over three minutes of her time with a mark of 25:39.5, and Jillian Head (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) saw her first collegiate race and finished with a time of 27:52.1.
