Women's Cross Country Tunes Up for SUNYAC Championship at Conn College Invite

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team competed at the Conn College Invite Saturday morning, as the team previewed the Mideast Region Championship course and also tuned up for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship meet in two weeks.

The team finished in 36th place in the 6,000-meter race, finishing ahead of Marywood. The race featured No. 1 ranked MIT, who won the race, as well as 11 other teams ranked in the national poll.

The Cardinals next head to Oswego, N.Y. for the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at noon.

Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) was the top Cardinal finisher, placing 205th with a time of 24:44.50. Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) placed 230th in her first career 6k race, posting a mark of 25:12.60. Finishing next for Plattsburgh State was Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central), as she posted a time of 25:41.00.

The final two finishers for the Cardinals on Saturday were Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y./Waterville) and Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y./Bethlehem), who each competed in their first collegiate 6k race. Stuttard clocked in with a time of 26:51.90, while Cunningham was seven seconds behind, finishing with a time of 26:58.90.
