SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team competed in the RPI Harvest Classic on Saturday morning, placing in fourth place behind talented teams, including the No. 11 ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
For Plattsburgh, the team had 92 points, placing behind No. 11 RPI, Union (N.Y.), and Albany, while finishing ahead of Saint Rose and Hudson Valley Community College.
Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) was the first Cardinal to finish, coming in 30
th place overall with a time of 25:46.3.
The Cardinals next head to St. Lawrence for the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m.
After Bonesteel,
Graham Richard (Albany, N.Y./Albany) wasn't far behind, placing 33
rd and posting a time of 25:54.9. The next three Cardinal runners finished in quick succession, beginning with
Michael Brockway (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) in 52
nd place at 26:41.7. He was followed shortly by
Erik Kucera (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and
Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) who came in at 54
th and 55
th, respectively, with times of 26:47.0 and 26:56.2. Kucera posted a near one-minute personal record (PR) with his time on the course today.
Rounding out the top seven runners for Plattsburgh State was
Jeremy Gundrum (Wst Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) in 58
th place and
Peter Basile (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Maple Hill) in 66
th place. Gundrum posted a time of 27:02.2 and Basile posted a near three-minute PR with his time of 27:33.1.
