2023 Plattsburgh State Men's Soccer Schedule

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Led by sixth-year head coach Chris Taylor, the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team is looking for back-to-back State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) semifinal appearances after qualifying for the playoffs and winning their opening round game in 2022
 
The 2022 season saw the Cards finish 8-8-3 overall and 2-4-3 in league play. The team qualified for the SUNYAC playoffs as the sixth seed on the last day of the regular season, tying Buffalo State, and went on to win their opening round game against New Paltz on the road. The team ended up falling to eventual champion Oneonta on the road in semifinal action, as Taylor led his team to the semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons. 
 
Plattsburgh State kicks off its 2023 schedule at home on the Field House Complex Turf as they host Clarkson on Friday, Sept. 1, following the conclusion of the women's game. The Cards then play three straight road games, beginning with a Sept. 3 trip to Utica, followed by a Sept. 9 match at RPI, and ending with a visit to Russell Sage on Sept. 12. Plattsburgh subsequently returns home on Sept. 16 for a match against Union before opening their conference slate.
 
The Cardinals open up conference play at home on Sept. 20, as they play host to a local rival in Potsdam. After their home, conference opener, the boys will travel to Brockport on Sep.t 23 and then New Paltz on Sept. 27 for two straight SUNYAC road games. Next, the team plays host to Oswego State on Sept. 30, before heading on the road for their first game in October, playing Morrisville on Oct. 4. 
 
The October schedule continues for Plattsburgh on Oct. 7 as they travel to western New York to play Fredonia, before hosting the conference runner-up in Cortland on Oct. 11. A home matchup with Buffalo State follows on Oct. 14 before the team plays the defending conference champs Oneonta on the road on Oct. 18. The Cards then round up their SUNYAC schedule as they host Geneseo on Oct. 21 and then conclude their 2023 regular season schedule, hosting Liberty League champions St. Lawrence on Oct. 25. 

The top six teams in the final regular-season conference standings will qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament, with the first-round set for Oct. 28, the semifinals set for Nov. 1, and the championship set for Nov. 4. The top two seeds earn byes to the semifinals, while the bottom four seeds begin the tournament in the first round on Oct. 28.
