As a part of the 2022 Division III Week from April 4-10, Plattsburgh State Athletics will be unveiling a new Q&A each day during the week to highlight some of the student-athletes at Plattsburgh State who embody the ideals of a Division III student-athlete. Day five features sophomore Dylan Shalvey from the men's soccer team.
Q: What has been your favorite moment here at Plattsburgh State?
My favorite moment here at Plattsburgh State would be getting back-to-back crucial wins away at Geneseo and Brockport. These were must-win games, and the team energy on the bus ride back was awesomeÂ

Q: What is your favorite part of being a Division III student-athlete?
My favorite part of being a student-athlete is just becoming closer and closer with my teammates. These are friendships that will last after college.
Q: Do you find it challenging balancing athletics and academics?
I do not find it too hard to balance athletics and academics. I feel I do better when I have a schedule like this because it helps me not procrastinate. It is definitely easy to fall behind if you do not manage your time, though.

Q: What does it mean to you to represent Plattsburgh State in your respective sport and in the community?
It means a lot to me to be able to represent Plattsburgh State. I am grateful of the opportunity to play here and give my complete effort every practice/game in return. The community has been nothing but supportive so that means a lot to my teammates and me.

Q: What has been your favorite class here at SUNY Plattsburgh?
I would say my favorite class has been Principles of Marketing. I enjoyed all the projects in that class and took a lot out of it.
Q: In one word, how would you describe being a student-athlete?
Enjoyable.
Q: What lessons have you learned being a student-athlete?
I learned to get your work done as soon as possible so you can enjoy and focus on your sport without being stressed. Also, it's important to have a healthy sleep and eating schedule when in season.Â

Q: What is one piece of advice you would have for incoming student-athletes?
I would tell incoming student-athletes to make an everyday schedule so that you give yourself time to get your work done so you don't fall behind when in season.
