CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team returned to action for the first time in more than a month on Saturday, placing second out of three teams with 88 points at the Saints Indoor Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University.
 
First-year student Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) finished first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:19.53, while senior Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) won the long jump with a leap of 4.95 meters (16' 3"). The Cardinals' 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Hannah Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City), senior Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton), first-year student Emma Ginnane (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) and sophomore Natalia Castro (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) also took first, clocking a time of 4:41.68.
 
Second-place finishes came from junior Jessica Landman in the 200-meter dash (28.21), McDonough in the 400-meter dash (1:03.78), first-year student Skyler Misiaszek in the 5,000-meter run (21:58.46) and sophomore Katie Bergé in the high jump (1.38 meters – 4' 6.25") in addition to the Cardinals' 4x200-meter relay team of junior Deanna Zoch (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia), Landman and first-year students Morgan Thompson (Porter Corners, N.Y./Corinth) and Sydney Wise (Bronx, N.Y./Millennium Art Academy) that charted a time of 1:59.55.
 
Plattsburgh State next competes at the Middlebury Invitational hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday, Jan. 29.
