PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. –
The Plattsburgh State softball team is set to begin its first season under head coach Sam Van Dorn in 2021.

"Coming into this season has been a whirlwind, but we are thrilled to be able to play," Van Dorn, who was the Cardinals' assistant coach in 2020, said. "We have both a young and upcoming team and coaching staff. With that being said, all of us are motivated, dedicated and driven to make the most of every practice and game. I think our team dynamic and culture will lead us to surprise the SUNYAC and carry us through our season. Our student-athletes work very hard on and off the field to be able to play, and we are proud of the strides they are making. Overall, we are grateful to be able to play the game we all love again."

Plattsburgh State, which saw its 2020 season canceled because of the COVID-19, played to a 13-19 (7-11 State University of New York Athletic Conference [SUNYAC]) record in 2019.
