WATERFORD, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team placed 15th out of 26 teams with 397 points at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Memorial State Park on Saturday to close out the 2021 season.
First-year student
Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) led the way for the Cardinals, placing 63rd out of 174 runners with a time of 27:22.2 navigating the eight-kilometer course. Sophomore
Michael Brockway (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville), first-year student
Daniel Pavelec (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) and senior
Joe Yusaitis (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) all finished in sequence, finishing in 83rd (27:49.2), 84th (27:50.3) and 85th (27:59.2), respectively. Junior
Jeremy Gundrum (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) also scored points for the Cardinals by placing 87th (28:07.5), while first-year student
Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) and junior
Liam Gildea (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) finished 95th (28:21.8) and 128th (30:04.8), respectively.
The Cardinals were just five points back of 14th-place SUNY New Paltz and just 10 points back of 13th-place Clarkson University. Williams College won the team title with 54 points, while Williams' senior Aidan Ryan crossed first individually with a time of 24:35.8.
