PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The second-seeded Plattsburgh State men's soccer team is set to host third-seeded Buffalo State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) semifinal match at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Field House Complex.

ABOUT THE SERIES: Plattsburgh State is 0-2-0 against Buffalo State under second-year head coach Chris Taylor with both matches being decided by one goal. Earlier this season, Plattsburgh State lost a home match to Buffalo State 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Field House Complex.

The match was scoreless until the second half when Buffalo State scored the first goal of the match in the 53rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Bengals took a free kick that landed in the six-yard box. The ball bounced around to Nemanja Simic, who scored for the Bengals. The Cardinals fought back and tied the match in the 71st minute when freshman forward Cole Weiner (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) scored his fourth goal of the season. Senior midfielder Jimmy Marchena (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) quickly played a free kick from midfield ahead to senior forward Chris Robertson (Thiells, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional (N.J.)) outside the top-right corner of the 18-yard box. Robertson made a move to his left to get around a defender and used a left-footed strike to curve a shot that was headed toward the lower-left corner of the net. Buffalo State's goalkeeper made a diving stop, but Weiner got to the rebound first at the top of the six-yard box and chested it into the net to tie the match at 1-1. Buffalo State would answer with what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 75th minute. At the top of the 18-yard box, Josh Beshaw passed the ball to the right to Anthony Roncone, who one-timed a shot into the lower-left corner of the net to make the final score 2-1.
