MILTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team finished eighth out of nine teams with 208 points at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships hosted by SUNY New Paltz at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y., Saturday morning. The race was eight kilometers in distance.
Junior
Luke Groves (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) was the top Cardinal finisher, covering the race in 27:03.4 to place 30th overall. Juniors
Andrew Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) and
Arthur Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) finished in sequence, taking 43rd (27:31.4) and 44th (27:31.5), respectively, while freshman
Ryan Worobey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) claimed 60th place (28:08.9). Junior
Timothy Lorenzen (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and freshmen
Joe Yusaitis (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) and
Josh Herman (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) rounded out the Cardinals who factored into team scoring by placing 69th (28:42.3), 74th (28:52.7) and 80th (29:14.4), respectively.
SUNY Geneseo captured its sixth consecutive team championship with 23 points, while SUNY Oneonta placed second (50) and The College at Brockport took third (94). Geneseo's senior Sean McAneny crossed first individually with a time of 25:28.0.
Plattsburgh State next competes at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m.
