MILTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team is competing at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships hosted by SUNY New Paltz at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y., Saturday morning. The men's race, which will begin at 10:45 a.m., will cover eight kilometers, and the awards ceremony will occur at Studley Theater on New Paltz's campus.
The Cardinals placed eighth at last year's championship, and they field a team this year that appears poised to be in the mix to climb up the standings.

Andrew Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) has been Plattsburgh State's top finisher in three of the four meets in which the Cardinals have run on an eight-kilometer course, including a season-best 26:10.9 at the Connecticut College Invitational. Junior
Luke Groves (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) has served as the Cardinals' second-fastest runner during the three races in which Horan led Plattsburgh State, and he was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational with a time of 26:47.7.

Arthur Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) has shown consistency all year and will likely be one of the first Plattsburgh State runners to finish, while a group of runners that includes juniors
Joseph Chianese (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River),
Timothy Lorenzen (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and
Brendon VanVlack (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) and freshmen
Nicholas Boncore (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor),
Liam Gildea (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville),
Ryan Worobey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and
Joe Yusaitis (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) all have factored into scoring in eight-kilometer races this season.
