Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The No. 9 Middlebury College women's soccer team topped No. 14 Plattsburgh State 3-0 on Wednesday at Dragone Field.
Middlebury improves to 4-0 overall while Plattsburgh State moves to 4-1.
Junior midfielder
Rachael Moran (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) got off three shots, one on goal with a blast from the top arc, in the opening 19 minutes.
The Panthers took four shots, one on goal, before their fifth landed in the back of the net off a cross from the right side into the penalty area, where it was headed in with 24:01 on the clock.
With 1:17 left in the first, Middlebury buried another ball into the back of the net with a long shot into the upper-right side.
The Panthers out-shot the Cardinals by one in the first half, 7-6..
Both senior forward
Jessica Reid (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and freshman forward
Allison Seidman (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) had scoring opportunities in the top of the second half that were taken away by the Panthers defense.
Middlebury's third goal came in the 73rd minute off a pass at the top of the penalty area that was out of the keepers reach but just inside the left post.
The Panthers out-shot the Cardinals 16-8 overall.
Graduate goalkeeper
Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) recorded three saves while Middlebury's two keepers made a combined four.
Plattsburgh State travels to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Saturday to play Skidmore at 7 p.m.
