PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The second-seeded Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team begin its quest to win its first-ever State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title on Wednesday, May 3, as it hosts third-seeded The College at Brockport at 4 p.m. in the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals at the Field House Complex.
 
TICKET PRICING: General admission tickets are $5, while tickets for children ages 5-12 are $3… Children 4 and under and students from SUNYAC schools with valid identification will be admitted free of charge... Ticket sales will begin at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the game.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES: In a series that dates back to 2002, the Cardinals are 14-5 all-time against the Golden Eagles… Brockport topped Plattsburgh State, 7-6, in last year's SUNYAC Tournament semifinals in Brockport, N.Y., but the Cardinals won a 15-11 decision against the Golden Eagles back on April 15… During the two teams' last meeting, Plattsburgh State scored 10 second-half goals, and junior attackman Ryan Hubbard (Aquebogue, N.Y./Riverhead) tallied six points on four goals and two assists.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS: Plattsburgh State is in the SUNYAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive season… Senior attackman Ryan Callahan (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) leads the SUNYAC in points (61), while Hubbard is the conference leader in goals (41)… In the program's all-time record book, Hubbard is sixth in both goals (110) and points (142)… Callahan, meanwhile, has 109 career points to his credit: 95 at Plattsburgh State and 14 at NCAA Division II Belmont Abbey College… Senior long-stick midfielder Kyle Espejo (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) has enjoyed a breakout season for the Cardinals and has helped in several facets of the game… Espejo is fifth in the SUNYAC in ground balls (55) and 10th in the conference in caused turnovers (17) while boasting two goals and two assists for four points… Junior goalie Austin Graham (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) ranks third in the SUNYAC in save percentage (.569) and goals-against average (8.08)… Plattsburgh State is led by second-year head coach Joe May, who is 18-13 overall during his two seasons as the lead man for the Cardinals.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Brockport has now made the SUNYAC Tournament for two consecutive seasons… The Golden Eagles have qualified for the SUNYAC Tournament four years in their history… Brockport was edged narrowly in the SUNYAC title game a year ago, falling by a 7-6 final to the Red Dragons on a goal with two seconds left in regulation… Senior attackman Jake Giudice is the offense's sparkplug and will be looked to early and often to get the attack running… Giudice ranks fourth in the SUNYAC in goals (34) and fifth in the conference in points (48)… Junior defenseman Steven Gurin has caused issues on the defensive front all season, leading the SUNYAC in caused turnovers with 31 and ranking seventh in the conference in ground balls with 50… Junior goalkeeper Dallas Meyers anchors the defense with a conference-leading 7.56 goals-against average, and he ranks fifth in the SUNYAC in save percentage (.562)… Seventeenth-year head coach Ben Wineburg is 101-127 for his career and won his 100th career game last Wednesday against SUNY Geneseo.

WHAT'S NEXT: The winner of this semifinal game will face the winner of the other semifinal-round contest between fourth-seeded Geneseo and top-seeded SUNY Cortland in the SUNYAC Tournament final on Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at the site of the highest-remaining seed... The winner of the SUNYAC Tournament gains the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
