Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team found themselves on the right side of a 4-0 result Saturday afternoon against Elmira.
After a scoreless double overtime affair on Wednesday night against Union the Cardinals picked up right where they left of as them and Elmira were tied 0-0 at the end of the first half.
However the Plattsburgh State scoring drought would come to a quick halt in the beginning of the second half, scoring four goals in seven minutes.
In the 48
th minute
Devin McMahon would slip a through ball past the Elmira defense to
Cassidy Clavet. Clavet would carrel the ball and beat Soaring Eagle's goalie Amanda Banner.
23 seconds later McMahon would dish out another assist, this time to
Anissa Hartmann. McMahon would send a pass that split two defenders to an open Hartmann on top of the six yard box to put the Cardinals up 2-0.
Hartmann wouldn't stop there. The Fairfax, Vt., native would net her second goal of the afternoon just three minutes later to give Plattsburgh State a 3-0 edge.
Sophomore,
Madeline Saccocio sent in a cross that connected with Hartmann. Hartmann took one-touch before burring her shot into the back of the net.
Plattsburgh State would conclude the scoring with its fourth goal in the 55
th minute on
Madeline Saccocio's second goal of the season.
Saccocio had her initial shot blocked but was able to regather the ball and score on her second shot attempt.

Nichole Gibson made eight saves in route to her second consecutive shutout performance.
Elmira goalie Amanda Banner made 10 saves for the Soaring Eagles including seven in the first half.
The Cardinals ended the day with a 24-15 shot advantage on the Soaring Eagles. Both teams would attempt five corner kicks.
After five-straight road games to open the season, Plattsburgh State will have its home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against RPI. The Cardinals defeated the Engineers 1-0 last season in Troy.
