Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team challenged Buffalo State Wednesday afternoon for a spot in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNAC) Finals, unfortunately falling to the Bengals 4-1.
The Bengals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Victoria Colotti one-timed an Alexis Carillo flip throw from the left corner of the field beating Cardinal's goalkeeper
Nichole Gibson.
Buffalo State would score its next two goals via penalty kicks. Melissa Smith converted the first one followed by Meghan Allen netting the second one to make 3-0.
For the second-straight game against the Cardinals, Smith would score twice. She made it 4-0 when she was on the receiving end of an Allen through ball that sent her free on the right side of the box. Smith would beat Gibson low far post.
The Cardinals would get on the board late in the 87 minute to make it 4-1. Senior,
Kelly Siry scored her first goal of the season when her
Anissa Hartmann were on a 2-1. Hartmann passed the ball over to Siry whose one-timer beat Bengal's goalie Erica Knudsen.
One the evening the Bengals owned a 25-6 shot disparity and a 9-0 corner kick advantage.
This marks the second-straight season Plattsburgh State has reached the SUNYAC Semifinals. The Cardinals finished the season 12-6-2 which is the best mark since their 2010 campaign when they went 15-4-1.
